Observations and views from a different set of eyes

Hang Your Head In Shame, Michael Moore

on March 15, 2013

Are any of you familiar with Michael Moore?  He’s a director, author and social critic; he’s made documentaries which include “Farenheit 9/11,” and “Bowling For Columbine.”  He’s made a lot of money from films that document everything that is wrong with America.  And, evidently, he has now decided to use Crime Scene photos of the victims in Newtown, Ct. in his fight against the NRA.

Michael Moore believes that the public needs to see pictures of those poor children’s bodies from Newtown and unless we, the public, see the horrific damage this killer inflicted on those little ones, we are unable to appreciate his views on gun control and join his fight against the NRA.  Yes, people, he wants someone to make those sickening pictures public!

But I have a prediction. I believe someone in Newtown, Connecticut – a grieving parent, an upset law enforcement officer, a citizen who has seen enough of this carnage in our country – somebody, someday soon, is going to leak the crime scene photos of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. And when the American people see what bullets from an assault rifle fired at close range do to a little child’s body, that’s the day the jig will be up for the NRA. It will be the day the debate on gun control will come to an end. There will be nothing left to argue over. It will just be over. And every sane American will demand action.

Well, Mr. Moore, I’m here to tell you that any intelligent person can imagine what the damage was to these children.  We don’t need to see pictures of their mutilated bodies, we already feel pain and disgust for what happened to each and every one of them.  You are in the media and just want to use these pictures for shock value and to rally people to your campaign against assault rifles.

And perhaps one parent, or law officer or the media will put these pictures in our faces as you predict (and are encouraging them to do).  And, when those pictures are published, I want you to think about the parents of these lost children who are again reminded of what horrible things happened to their child that day.  I’m sure they’ll thank you for that.

Now, Michael expects us to be outraged if these pictures are published for he goes on to say:

Of course, there will be a sanctimonious hue and cry from the pundits who will decry the publication of these gruesome pictures. Those who do publish or post them will be called “shameful” and “disgraceful” and “sick.” How could a media outlet be so insensitive to the families of the dead children! Someone will then start a boycott of the magazine or website that publishes them.

Well, you are 100% correct on this, Michael!  Yes, I would boycott any publication that was so ignorant and unfeeling as to post those pictures.  And I’m sure many more would do the same.  And, just to let you know, I’m starting with you for even suggesting that someone publish these vile photos.  You can count on that!

Mr. Moore spends most of the rest of the article describing what these pictures would potentially look like, right down to quoting a physician on the damage an assault weapon would do to a small child.  I guess since he doesn’t have his hands on the gruesome pictures; he has decided to describe what they probably look like.  How dare you insult my intelligence, Michael.  I can fully imagine the condition these poor innocents were left in and I certainly don’t need you to tell me what a bullet would do to a tiny body.

So, hang your head in shame, Michael Moore, for even suggesting these pictures be made public.  Leave these children and their families out of your Anti-NRA campaign and stop using them as a tool to gain publicity for your cause.

Before I end this post,  let me tell you that I do not believe that the current controversy about Gun Control has anything to do with the Newtown Shootings.  I am an intelligent woman who realizes that a mentally ill person took up an assault weapon and murdered 20 children.  Nothing in the world would have stopped this insane boy from destroying the lives of many;  he could have used a bomb strapped to his body; he could have used a sword; a knife; or any other type of weapon and produced just as much carnage.  He meant to kill as many as he could and it did not matter what weapon he chose.  When discussing the Newtown Shootings, mental illness should be the focus, not gun control.

I pray that what Michael Moore predicts will happen with these pictures never happens and I pray that the families of the victims of the Newtown shootings can be left in peace to mourn their loss and find closure.  And, I pray that I never have to read anything so disgusting again!

Authors Note:  This post is about the suggestion of the Crime Scene Photos of the Newtown shootings being published and only about that subject.  Please do not use your comments on this post to state your views on Gun Control, either pro or con.  That’s not what this post is about, so please don’t waste your time.  There are plenty of posts out there on Gun Control that you can use to publish your views on.  Thank you.

A lot of us joined after that terrible shooting. It’s just one post a month dedicated to peace. There’s no strict rules and I think you’ll love a lot of the people involved. 😉

  2. Wow. I am shocked to hear this. What incident do you refer to? Any web links? I am familiar with Michael Moore’s work and so far I thought he was a great person with a great cause.

  3. I agree that we shouldn’t be so insensitive & these photos should definitely be kept private.

Great Post, I stand with you on this issue. Michael Moore is the typical Hollywood hypocrite makes millions and millions yet denounces capitalism. Calls for higher taxes but uses tax loopholes to his benefit. He is always out there beating the ground when something tragic like Newtown happens, it is somewhat like an ambulance chaser, the last thing I think we need is a Hollywood silver spoon exploiting such a tragic incident to shame politicians into acting. My wife and I sat here and cried with the nation as news of the Sandy Hook shootings broke. America grieves for the families and the children lost we do not need anybody to etch this tragedy any deeper into our minds and thats the bottom line. Mr. Moore is more concerned about picking the scab than letting this wound begin to heal for all of us.

Michael Moore has always been an idiot. He parades his work under the pretense of doing good, and exposing corruption, but he has always taken quotes, situations, and stories out of context, or in pieces, in order to suit his story. As disgusting as this is, it doesn’t surprise me. He’s no better than the people he is trying to denounce.

  6. I don’t think Michael Moore is an idiot or dangerous. Maybe he is just trying to shock people to reality. Not everyone is as intelligent and imaginative as you are. Many of thos who have been raised on Halloween standards tend to think that horror belongs to holidays, not to reality. What seems really dangerous to me is that mainstream media can’t focus on the really dangerous folks.

I’ll be the judgmental neocon here and say that Michael Moore is a sick sick S.O.B. and his next breath on this earth is one too many. On a post last month, I wrote, “I can think of a handful of men with whom I’d rather be bludgeoned to death than stuck on a desert island: Kevin Smith, Quentin Tarantino, and Michael Moore, for starters.” I still stand by that.

Michael Moore is all about shock value and whipping up some level of hysteria among viewers. His so-called documentaries are heavily slanted toward his predetermined agenda, and he makes very little (if any) effort to present evidence to the contrary. What’s unfortunate, in my opinion, is many viewers are reeled in by his outrageous efforts and blindly accept his trashy films as absolute truth. Responsible journalism investigates both sides of an issue and presents the information without inserting the reporter’s opinion. It’s too bad more of his fan base doesn’t appreciate this.

    • And that is what makes him a dangerous man. He presents his views as the absolute truth and many don’t see the other side of the issue! But, I believe, this time he has just gone too far.

He’s aware that his post is going to encourage someone to get their hands on these pictures and he doesn’t care. I hope that this post will help people see his “darker” side.

  9. Thank you for your reply and for being such a good sport.

I comment again as I need to point out several uncomfortable facts regarding this topic.
Everyone, you included, presents their truth as the absolute truth – a fact for which Moore can’t be shunned, either. For example, you wrote: “that’s what makes him a dangerous man” – even though that is just your opinion.

On the other hand, there are the hard objective facts, which are not up to our opinions, and Michael Moore is very good at directing our attention to those facts. Another hard fact is this: Michael Moore is the least dangerous and least dark figure among the many others in the current political-social arena.

    • I agree that my remarks to you were based on my views regarding Michael Moore. I read his article 3 times, and each time I became more incensed. He was more or less goading someone to publish those pictures. I’m sure if he had his hands on them..they would already be out there.

My point in the whole article was: No-one needs to see those pictures! To suggest that they be published is only feeding into some of the sick minds that Want to see those poor children’s bodies. That is why I feel he is dangerous!

Also, he implies that we won’t take action against evil unless proof of violence is shoved in our faces. I like to think that there are a majority of people out there who are intelligent enough to realize that something is wrong when a mentally ill person can inflict such damage to so many.

Again, my friend, let’s just agree to disagree! Thanks for commenting again!
