Observations and views from a different set of eyes

Grandma Says..Stop This Nonsense…Now!

on October 3, 2013

As a citizen of the United States and a woman that has lived through wars, presidential assassinations, and too many recessions to count, I don’t usually post about politics.  I usually keep my views on politics to myself as I have seen our government in action and overall, I feel that we have a good working system, which has it’s ups and downs, but usually everything works out eventually. But, having never experienced the shameful behavior that our politicians are exhibiting right now, which has resulted in a partial shutdown of our government, I felt it was time to speak up!

It’s time to stop the nonsense.  Whether you are a Republican or Democrat leader in our House of Representatives or in the Senate, it’s time to grow up…stop grandstanding and put this country back on track.  Look at the message you are sending to the people in countries who thought the U.S. was a strong country. Right now, these countries are looking at our politicians bickering and filibustering while the country goes down the drain.  We look weak and broke.

It’s time to come together and reach a compromise that will keep this country going and it’s citizens employed. All members of our government need to remember that we, the citizens of the United States put them in office…and we can vote them out in the next election.  And, do not doubt that we have long memories and will remember that the bickering has caused a shutdown of our government while you were in office.

So, I say, stop this nonsense and reach an agreement that will show other countries that we can put our heads together and come up with a plan…NOW…that will put our country back on track. Show the other countries that we have a strong, intelligent government that is able to work out a plan to make our country even stronger!

Just Saying!

I can’t but agree, although I’m sceptical about their intelligence etc 😦

  2. You are right! It is time to stop the bickering. We have to face the fact that we are a country deeply divided on philosophy but somehwere a long the way we need to decide on a direction. Someone somewhere has to realize that not deciding is still a decision that brings about a consequence. I think my biggest concern is that the damage done here will be irreversible by the time the next election roles around making our votes almost moot.

Good post. We need you to be lifeguard and tell everyone “out of the pool.” The bigger issue looms in two weeks and that is raising the debt ceiling. I was thinking of the doctor’s Hippocratic oath of “do no harm.” Well these folks are doing harm, some moreso than others.

You know i love to talk politics but will keep it mild here. Yesterday I was listening to talk radio and a person called in and spoke about the EPA. He said the EPA had furloughed 1500 workers and kept 1300 essential to run the agency. I have to ask if 1300 can run the agency what are the other 15,000 for? This brings me to the point, our government spends far too much money and somebody needs to be the adult in the room and reign in the spending, if this was done there would be less need to continually seek to raise the debt limit. We have an elected leader of this country, whether I like him or not I believe it is his job to unite and stop with the division of this nation. There are three branches of power for a reason and no president is immune to the need to negotiate.

    Memo to all elected officials…Get-R-Done!
